This years event included a four day program which started on 10th August to the 13th. First day was a cultural night held at Marine park club which was meant for entertainment only, whereby various traditional dances performed.
Day two was the official opening of the festival which was presided over by the deputy governor Hon. Kamto among other guests. Cultural dances, food exhibitions including other events created a very entertaining atmosphere. The climax was the chief guest's speech which insisted on togetherness. Thereafter the congregation left for Magarini Cultural centre where it was going to stay overnight.
Day three, group left for for Bungale where the climax was. This night was outstanding as most of the events including performing of rituals, prayers and of course a lot of eating and feasting with Mnazi being the drink of the time were the main highlights.
Day four was the climax where the Governor Hon. Amason Kingi was the chief guest. In his speech, the Governor said a mausoleum in honor of Mekatilili would soon be constructed at the Mekatilili wa Menza cultural centre. This year's festival was attended by an overwhelming crowd of peolple including tourists who had visited Kenya for the first time.
