I wish to appreciate all those who turned up to participate in this year’s Mekatilili Peace Walk that began today and will take seven days through Mombasa into Kwale County. Much appreciation to the Council of Kaya elders who are the major organizers for taking it upon themselves to preach peace during this hard time of rampant violence and terrorism in our Nation and especially our Coastal region.
Peace is the cardinal pillar for the socio-economic development of any society world over and Kilifi is not an exception. Without peace, no development will be achieved. I wish to ask all our citizens in Kilifi to take the example of our elders to actively participate in fostering peace amongst ourselves, in the house, village, estate, offices towns and Entire County. For it is not only enough to talk about peace; One must believe in it! And it isn't enough to believe in it; one must work at it
Finally I am very touched by your humble act of conduction a cleaning exercise during your walk across Kilifi town. May the good Lord grant you safe journey mercies as you walk to achieve your plans of building peace to our region Republic of Kenya at large.
