Watamu Monument

Overlooking the beach front of Temple point hotel in Watamu is this historical site which is common to those who have once been residents at the hotel. This neglected historical sites could be dating back the 13th century when Malindi and Gedi were also occupied. It could have been one of the Arab towns to be occupied along the eastern coast of east Africa before it was abandoned. The site has alot of hidden history behind it pending archeological excavation to reveal the truth. Very little is known about the place. Those visiting the Watamu marine national park can see the monument from some place at the beach.
