Governor Amason Kingi âDream Teamâ of Executives was sworn in January,4, 2018 with a promise to serve residents of Kilifi with zeal and offer guidance and Counsel to the governor in implementing his agenda for the next five years.
This is the team that will spearhead the governorâs vision and implement his promises to the people of Kilifi through project development and improving the livelihood of the people of Kilifi.
Among those sworn are Former Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) Vice Chancellor, Professor Josphat Kazungu Mwatela who will serve as the County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Roads, Public Works and Transport. The former university lectures will now have a huge task in improving the roads network in the county as well as oversee the opening up the county transport system.
Prof Mwatela will be joined in the county cabinet by another renowned Scholar, Professor Gabriel Gona Katana who has taken up the mantle in shaping up the Education system in the county. He will lead the county department of Education which is tasked with pre-primary and vocational training colleges as well as oversee the management of the County Information, Communication, and Technology department.
The task of managing the county funds has been given to Mr Samuel Kombe Nzai, an accounting professional and auditor of repute who will now serve as the new head of the Department of Finance and Economic Planning. His first task will now to oversee that the County revenue collection has improved through opening up new revenue streams as well as sealing loop holes in revenue leakage.
Governor Kingi has shown confidence in his former Economic Advisor, Ms Nahida Mohammed Athman and has handed her the daunting task of selling the county as the preferred tourism destination of choice. Ms Mohamed will now head the Department of Trade, Tourism and Co-operative Development.
Dr. Anisa Ahmed Omar, has returned back to the County Government this time to head the department of Health and Medical services. The Former director of Health at the Kilifi County government has been hailed as the perfect choice to lead the department considering her long career as a medical practitioner and administrator serving the people of Kilifi County.
Ms. Liciana Jumwa Sanzua joins the Cabinet of Governor Kingi in her capacity as the new Executive in Charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. From Harnessing the blue economy to making the county a food secure zone, Ms Sanzua already has her hands full as she will have to come up with new ways of improving food production in the county as well as oversee the increase in number of acreage under irrigation in the county for food sustainability.
To task of promoting the County traditions and protect its Identity has been handed to Ms Maureen Mnyazi Mwangovya who will now head The Department of Gender, Social Services, Culture and Sports as the new CEC. She will also have the task of making Kilifi county a powerhouse in sporting activities and promote the arts for youths in Kilifi.
Governor Kingi in the meantime has also retained three former CEC who served in his previous administration.
Mr Charles Dadu Karisa will continue heading the Department of Lands Energy, Housing and Urban Development, while Mr Kiringi Karisa Mwachitu will head the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Forestry.
Former Health CEC, Ms Rachel Musyoki was moved to head the Department of Devolution, Public Service and Disaster Management.
The 10 Executives, now join the Governor, Amason Kingi and his Deputy Gideon Saburi together with the County Secretary in forming the County Cabinet.
âNow that the team is formed, there is nothing else but work,â a touching note from Governor Kingi to the Executive.
Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi has asked the executives to work hard for the benefits of the people of Kilifi.
âYou have left top positions for this and we are greatfull for your dedication to come and serve your people,â Mr Saburi said.

Kilifi County Assembly Speaker Jimmy Kahindi said this is the most qualified set of professionals that has been gathered by the county government and hope that the team will be ready to work for the benefit of the people of Kilifi.
âWe had a good team, but this is the best team Governor Kingi has assembled,â said Mr Kahindi.
